Most exit advisors learned the acquisition process from the outside; Magis built and executed it.
We built and ran it all: the acquisition thesis, the financial model, the diligence, the decision about what a business was worth and why, and the final negotiations across the table from founders. We have spent over twenty years in the rooms where those decisions get made.
What that experience produces is a clear understanding of whose interests the process is designed to serve, and a specific idea of what it looks like when the advisor is on the founder’s side instead. We developed the playbooks. We ran them from the buy-side. We use them for the founder now.
THE NAME
Magis means “more.”
Magis is the Latin term at the heart of Jesuit philosophy: meaning more, for the greater good. Doing more than the minimum, in service of something larger. For a founder, it means more than a transaction: the right preparation, the right process, the right outcome, and clarity about what comes next.
Magis complements the deal team; we do not replace it.
Legal counsel. CPAs and financial advisors. Investment bankers. Wealth advisors. Each does better work with a prepared founder. When recommendations are needed, we present a short list against stated criteria and disclose in writing any relationship we have with each firm. The founder gets an advocate. The deal team gets a prepared client.

Will launched Magis Advisory to serve founders in high-stakes transitions: the chief risk-takers, who built a successful business and now want to sell it or seek a partner without experienced counsel and a clear understanding of the process. Will has spent over twenty years in mergers & acquisitions for publicly-traded and private equity-backed enterprises. He has evaluated thousands of businesses and worked on transactions representing over $5 billion in aggregate enterprise value, the majority in IT services. Will holds an AB from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
